CUYAHOGA FALLS, NOV 8, 2025 — Eyeoncleveland.com is now entering its second decade. What began by providing opportunities for some of my Cuyahoga Community College students to obtain bylines (or “clips” in the old days) has now burgeoned into a site where 13,000 or more people view relevant features and stories each year.
As I move towards retirement, I’m glad to have CHRISTINA EASTER joining us. A long-time Cleveland resident and a former student, Christina intends to focus on an important-yet-unreported aspect of life in our area – persons going missing.

Did you know that on any given day, there are 100+ active missing persons investigations happening just in the City of Cleveland, and two-thirds of those are missing juveniles? Christina wants to write stories the same way
Additionally, as I move towards retirement at Cuyahoga Community College, I hope to change the focus of Eyeoncleveland.com more towards human interest features. Anyone who’s been a student in my Tri-C classes can tell you that one of my themes is “Whoever tells the best story, wins.” We intend to keep on telling the best stories here, and to make the stories more robust with photos and occasional podcasts as well.

Eyeoncleveland is not yet ready for Part II of the “Their Sacrifice” series of stories leading up to the 25th anniversary of 9/11: That next installment will happen later in the calendar year. Instead, next we will be covering the Summit on Ukrainian Ministries (hosted by Slavic Full Gospel Church). Christina Easter is taking the lead on writing these stories.

We’re also working on a feature story on an icon in Christian broadcasting, Mark Zimmerman, who’ll be retiring from Heartfelt Radio (91.9 FM or www.heartfeltradio.org) after more than 25 years in local radio with both Moody Radio Cleveland and Heartfelt. He’s moving on to other Christian service and writing. You’ll be learning more about that soon. Another one of my terrific former students, Hannah Mayer, is collaborating with me on this feature.
Also, we’ll have the fourth and final installment in our 100th anniversary celebration of Akron’s leading icon, the Goodyear Blimp.
We’re grateful that you continue to read stories about great people and great things in and around Cleveland, found here on eyeoncleveland.com
